Last night, Seagull Solar board members Everton Henriques and TJ Smolka attended the Staten Island Museum Gala at the Richmond County Country Club as guests of Con Edison. Also representing the program was Dr. Jared Jax of Projectivity, a local nonprofit that has been instrumental in supporting Seagull Solar’s mission.
The evening was more than a night out — Con Edison presented the team with a $10,000 contribution toward the solar car build.
The support comes at a critical moment. The car is deep in fabrication, and resources like this translate directly into materials, components, and the infrastructure needed to put a student-built solar vehicle on the race course. Con Edison’s investment is a signal that what this team is doing matters beyond the shop floor.
Seagull Solar is grateful to Con Edison for their generosity and to Projectivity for their continued partnership in building opportunities for the next generation of engineers.
